Tuesday 11th August: Murray and I went to Cashmere High School for an afternoon meeting of the Maths "Canterbury Network Learning Community" to discuss how our cluster of schools was getting on with implementing the NZC. Schools in our cluster are: Burnside, St Thomas, Rangiora, Cashmere, Mairehau, Aranui and Riccarton.
It was good to see/hear what other schools are doing and we felt by the end of the meeting that we should meet again, perhaps this time with specific lesson ideas which incorporated some of the key competencies that may not be more traditionally used in our classrooms.
We were also invited to join the Canterbury NLC Wikispace : canterburynlc.wikispaces.com and to use it to share resources and ideas between our schools.
The Auckland Secondary Maths site has lots of good stuff on it from New Curriculum matters to work sheets on various topics. It also has some dynamic 'worksheets' which are made in "GeoGebra" format (.ggb files) You will need to download GeoGebra to play these files and you can then use GeoGebra to create your own.

Now I have followed Jan's lead to make a movie I will be showing this to my Year 9 maths classes this week to advertise their test next week. I will see if they find it amusing or not!
